Canoeing The Ramshorn Creek

Led by Warden/Educator Larry Federman, group b got to canoe down a different sort of creek. The Catskill Creek is a youthful stream in the location we explored last week and had a straighter course complete with small rapids. The Ramshorn is an old age stream. It has meanders, oxbows, and slow moving water. We saw very different plant and other wildlife there.

Some of us had never canoed before. It took practice and cooperation to keep the canoe going straight!

When we entered the Hudson it was very windy. By canoeing through the water plants we were better able to steer.
